The Rochester Irish Festival committee is holding a scholarship
competition in connection with the 2008 festival. We will
designate and honor:
Colleen of the Shamrocks for young women
Ambassador to Waterford for young men
This annual competition fosters the community minded spirit
that characterized your Irish ancestors in America. We invite
you to enter this competition. The winners will be honored
at the festival on September 5, 2008 and will represent the
Irish-American community throughout the year. Each winner
will receive $500. To qualify student must be:
1) Of Irish descent
2) Be a sophomore or junior in an area high school
3) Be in good academic standing
4) Submit a 750-word essay on the topic "My Irish Heritage"
5) Complete a personal data form.
Applicants must submit all material on or before July 1, 2008.
Applicants must also participate in a personal
interview with designated
judges in August of 2008 (at a yet to be
determinded time and place).
